Frequently Asked Questions

[As of 08/09/2025] Finch Fries Press has availability to help 1-2 authors.

What services does Finch Fries Press currently offer?

Currently, we only offer “publishing prep” consulting for self-publishing authors. For now, this service is a “side business within our side business” of creating books and content. We have limited capacity to help new customers (one or two projects at a time). Please reach out directly to request more information.

Specific services we are able to provide:

  1. Assistance in creating briefs/requests for quote (RFQs) for artwork, editing, or other services
    • Our familiarity in this space is primarily with Reedsy and Fiverr
  2. Collection and incorporation of key information into the final files for upload (including the dedication, author info, acknowledgements, and inclusion of the FFP logo)
  3. Formatting and assisting with uploading the final files to a print-on-demand provider (IngramSpark, Amazon, Blurb, etc.)
    • Software used: Atticus (book interior), Photoshop, Canva, and others
    • We have experience with but prefer to avoid wholesale printers (e.g., PrintNinja)
  4. Review and acceptance of digital proof(s)
    • For some books, test copies must be ordered and reviewed for layout, image quality, etc.
  5. Consulting and advice throughout the “pre-publication” process (including setting a publication date, establishing pricing, identifying keywords for booksellers/searches, etc.)

Specific services we do not provide:

  • Sourcing for artists, editors, or other professionals
  • Editing of any kind
  • Finishing/proofreading of a near-finished draft
  • Distribution to bookstores or libraries (nor guarantees thereof)
  • Marketing work, materials, or other related

What are some additional considerations?

  • If the author agrees, we will include a segment about your book(s) and/or you in our monthly FFP newsletter. We will work with you to decide:
    • What content to share and what not to share (e.g., samples of the covers or artwork)
    • When to share content
    • What the goals of the piece are for you
    • Whether you have a website or want readers to connect with you
  • We are also able to host content on our website highlighting your work, such as:
    • Blog posts on working the process with you
    • Spotlight for your book and/or you
